Abstract

Adlerian family counseling approach has an extensive history among the family counseling theories. The theoretical framework and practices of Adlerian family counseling, which proposes that individuals’ behaviors, purposes, and problems need to be understood in their own family systems, have been studied for many years. Nevertheless, there is an inadequate number of research regarding implementations of this approach in Turkey. Therefore, the main aim of this study is to review main principles and goals, stages of counseling process, practices and techniques of Adlerian family counseling and discuss applicability of this approach in Turkish culture. This study will draw attention of professionals who are working with families or continuing their education in this area and be a resource for future theoretical and applied studies of this approach.
